Margaret Salmon (November 22, 1940 – May 22, 2023)

Exoneree John Salmon’s wife of 44 years, Margaret passed away peacefully at Birchmere Retirement Residence in Orillia, Ontario.

Margaret suffered a stroke on January 25, 2022.

John was a loving and devoted husband who moved into the retirement residence to be near Margaret and to care for her.

John and Margaret were in the midst of preparing to move to their new home when she suddenly and unexpectedly passed away.

We extend our deepest and heartfelt condolences to John and Margaret’s families and friends, who are mourning her significant loss.

James Lockyer recalled and paid tribute to how Margaret stood steadfastly by John as he persevered for 45 years to clear his name of a manslaughter he did not commit.

Innocence Canada was honoured to include John as one of our clients.

John’s conviction was overturned on June 22, 2015. Please view that memorable day at the following link, here.

Margaret, rest in peace.  You will be forever remembered and missed.
