Leanne Bartley 10K Run

From Leanne:

I learned a few things when I completed my 10k run on Sunday 19th December 2021. The first and probably most important, which is equally relevant to many facets of life, is BE PREPARED. If or when I run my next 10k, I now know how much preparation is needed and I sincerely hope my fellow runners Asia, Daniela, Emily, Juliana, Leila, Sam and Vittoria did not find it as tough as I did. The second most important thing is if you have your heart set on something, don’t let anything stand in your way! Whilst you cannot guarantee you will achieve your ambition, a true winner is a person who never stops reaching for the stars!

I have to admit that after 6km I was struggling, but what kept me going was the fact that I was running to raise funds for those who have been wrongfully convicted. After each km, running became harder and harder, but never as hard as being innocent and wrongfully imprisoned. I can’t compare myself with the emotional strength shown by the wrongfully convicted, but without a doubt, it was thinking of their strength that kept me going until the end. For the wrongfully convicted: WE WON’T GIVE UP THE FIGHT!
