Canada's Wrongful Convictions: What lawyers and leaders can do to safeguard justice

To register, click here. This is a free online event.

The Canadian Registry of Wrongful Convictions – led by Professor Kent Roach and JD program alumni – underlines the dangers of wrongful convictions based on false guilty pleas or imagined crimes that never happened. Professor Roach has also written a new book, Wrongfully Convicted: Guilty Pleas, Imagined Crimes, and What Canada Must Do to Safeguard Justice (Simon & Schuster, 2023).

Join him and the Hon. Harry LaForme, former Justice of the Ontario Court of Appeal and author with the Hon. Juanita Westmoreland-Traoré of A Miscarriage of Justice Commission, as they examine the injustice of wrongful convictions in Canada and what changes are needed to avoid such failures in our criminal justice system.
