Each year, we dedicate October 2nd as Wrongful Conviction Day
About Wrongful Conviction Day
The first International Wrongful Conviction Day was launched in October 2, 2014. Ever since that day, cities around the world have annually recognized the date to honour those who are wrongfully convicted.
On this day, we honour the wrongfully convicted and spread awareness of their stories. The IWCDC and other organizations from around the world undertake activities to raise awareness about wrongful conviction worldwide. Landmarks across Canada and elsewhere in the world illuminate in yellow and white to draw attention to this important day of recognition and validation.
The IWCDC also hosts events throughout the year to raise awareness and teach others about the importance of wrongful conviction.
